Words of wisdom here, so very true and as lovely as the picture of a perfect rose balanced with intricate design of a heart shaped doily...Oh my, total piece, beautiful.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Ethel, oh my gosh, this brought many tears to my eyes because I wish I could give you a big angel hug and getting a hug from you for real I know must feel very special as your hugs on these pages alone bring many smiles to my heart! hmm.....interesting i just wrote a poem about this same topic. havent posted it yet but....i will eventually. it was because of aconversation i had with someone about hugging. I told her what a hug meant to me and she said.......a hug is just a hug...nothing more. Dont make such a big deal out of it.....you are right that a hug should mean something to both the giver and the receiver.....if they open their hearts when giving the hug.....they'd understand the meaning of it.

You described exactly what I need...a hug of sincere love and understanding. But when and who?  LOL
On another note:
Thank you so much for commenting on my poem, "Calling All Poets."  It really meant a lot to me.  I want you to know I would never poke fun at romantics as I am one, myself.  I guess I am just disillusioned right now.  I am coming out of an abusive 17 year marriage.  Recently, I started to date again, and I seem to be going out with guys who want superficial hugs, not long-lasting, deeply-felt hugs.  Yes, please hook me up with your links. It will do my heart good, and perhaps restore my faith in "ever after."

Patricia, I'm glad that you liked the poem.
I could tell in your poem you wrote that you
were sincere. Some people kind of make fun
of us romantics and act as though they may get
tired of reading love poems. If not, that's
probably all I would write about. LOL

I can understand your disillusionment right now.
There was a lot of mental abuse in my
previous
marriage. My husband is deceased now, but I still have some
scars from it. So, I understand both sides.
When my Honey-Love and I met, neither of us
was looking for a relationship. We were best
friends first, before we fell in love.
We've been together over five years now.
I truly hope that you find a real love with
someone who will love you as much as you love him.

I love to read in the really early archives,
