O, but to touch the lofted heights
upon the peak of new capped snow.
To walk the glade of forest green,
to share, to love another so.

To hear the whispered word of song,
to dance the morning into night.
To trace a fountain’s shining stream
against the shimmer of day’s light.

To grasp the grape on winding stem
and kiss the dew of dawn away.
Or touch the warmth of silken brow
in hopes that new found love will stay.

To take the hand, the given gift
in offering at a rainbow’s end.
Or find the treasured golden goose
as winds cause the willows to bend.

To touch the stars in heaven’s bed
or swing from a cold comet’s tail.
As Leo roars the lion’s cry
along the constellation’s trail.

To dream.....and smell the freshness
of a rose..

In your hair...

Barry, this is so beautiful. I love the whole poem,
but this part really caught me.....

To hear the whispered word of song,
to dance the morning into night.
To trace a fountain’s shining stream
against the shimmer of day’s light.

That is breath-takingly beautiful to me.
Good to see you here, too.
Hugs,
Ethel

Most delightful imagery here and all enchantingly connected to something so simple as the smell of the freshness of the rose.  Stunning poetry.

Absolutely love these lines, a resounding "oomph" to a marvelous write!
