Moved from a shack to a barn

Her abilities amaze me
But, only in retrospect

The way she greeted untruth
As a sort of magic trick
A slight of hand, an amusement
That no one is capable of

The way she would drink deeply
The blackest of waters
From the well of my wantonness
And come away refreshed

How she could bare herself
To the lash of lasciviousness
Subjecting herself to stinging strokes
Then, remaining unmarked

And, the manner in which she endured
The profound, piercing wounds
From the sharp blade of betrayal
Yet, persevered pristinely

Her abilities have escaped me
Alas, from disrespect

Well, wranx, I went through all of your poems here ... and I think you are not really over it or healed. But you see she keeps you inspired to write beautiful poetry! Even if they have all this touch of sadness.

I think we all have our ghosts that haunt us, alas, the one that got away will never die.  All we can do is right our wrongs, and hope that they shall come to pass our way again, and perhaps see us in a softer light.

You write so deeply and so beautifully...
I suspect you know that too.  I thank you for your poetry dear wranx~

Wranx---deep and introspective and honest...the kind of poetry that touches me.  That is the way you write.

She must have been really something!
I don't think you're over her yet...nor do you want to be.
Excellent write poet sir.

Having clicked over and read 'Forgetful', I now wonder if this is a mission of cleansing or celebration.  Impressive writes, both.

If something inspires such beauty in a poem it can't be all bad. The memories you have of her are tinted sepia..I've read all the poems you linked for us. You are an artist with your words sir.

It's so easy to look at yourself, but so hard to look at yourself and see.

A fine piece, Ed.

Hmm. Seems she may yet be nestled deep within. And that can't be bad when the feelings paint themselves like this.

Dictionary:

for·get:
To be unable to remember (something).
To treat with thoughtless inattention; neglect: forget one's family.
To leave behind unintentionally.
To fail to mention.

Gee Ed, I don't think you are quite there yet, but memories are wonderful things and from them you take what you want that was good into the next phase of life.  I truly enjoyed your poem though.

The thing about loving unconditionally is that you love regardless of whether that love is returned or not... and you keep on loving even if it's not appreciated until it's too late... and even if you never know it was finally appreciated. *S*

Ed,

everyone once in a while, we meet someone that we know instinctively we'll never be able to hold. We clash and smash against each other like fighter angel fish, making the making-up all the sweeter.

You've captured this very well!

The memories of her are like ghosts from your past that are haunting your todays. It appears to me that you need to do some energy clearing if your tomorrows are to be unencumbered by this emotional baggage.
Your poetry is intriguing as always!

memories are bread and water
shoved in the mouth
while the eyes see the feast
