I can still remember,
My mother's gentle touch
My father's wisdom ending never,
Things for me were never tough.

I guess I was their favorite,
They never knew what to expect,
Though I gave them 'fits'
I treated them with great respect.

When as a youngster barely seven,
My mother never showed concern,
When I brought home those bugs and vermin,
All crawley and a'squirmin.

My parents always encouraged,
No matter what I did,
And you can just imagine,
I was one mis-behavin' kid.

Fights and teachers all complaining,
Never a dull moment did they have,
I did alot of serious explaining,
(I was such an innocent lad).

But my parents were always there,
As I am for my kids too,
I guess that's where I learned,
The years are so very few.

What a wonderful way to thank your parents for putting up with your childhood antics. You were a lucky young man, and now you are a lucky....er, older man.

How could you NOT be their favorite? LOL But an innocent lad??? LOL When was that... while you were sleeping??? LOL

You obviously had wonderful parents, dearest friend... and followed their parenting example so very well. *S* The love you got and that you give are both so very beautiful.

This is wonderful, sweets...

Yeah, Toe, I was a mis-behaving kid sometimes, too...but not all the time.

I like this side of you, too, Mr. Toe....this sentimental side.....

In other words, you were a
mischievious boy who grew up to be
a respectable Dad. Sounds toetally
normal to me!

That's a nice telling and a good message Mr. Toe!

You're soft spot is showing and it looks right fine and dandy on you!

As much as I love your poem, I also love your response... wise and beautiful. *S*

And of course you're right. *bratty grin* The days just drag when you're busy elsewhere... but the years of our friendship have flown by... Thanks for each and every minute. *S*

I enjoyed this more serious and reflective side to your writing as well as your witty ditties.
What you learned from your loving parents, you are now passing on to your own children who in turn, will hopefully be passing it all down to your grandchildren and so on and so on...Kindness begets kindness, and Toe, you are a very kind and loving man and father. This was very special.

Warm hugs and angel kisses,
Linda
