I Will Not!

I will not think of chocolate bars
those horrid, rais’ny chocolate bars
or ones with peanuts, almonds, too,
I will not think of sug’ry goo.
Nor will I think of crispied rice,
taken up so sweet and crunchied nice,
they are to all a tempting vice,
you cannot make me dream.

I will not dream of creamy cores,
with cherries, almond flavors, more,
you will not wave the scent of brown
that wafts above a chocolate town.
Hershey, Pennsylvania’s fine,
as long as it’s across the line
that marks the Great Divide.
A mountain bar, of nougat lore,
won’t get my climb, nor make me poor.

I’ll just believe that determined I
would crave not for Eskimo Pie,
but rather for an artichoke
or sippings from a Pepsi-coke.
Oh, no, you’ve got me delusional
I’m really quite confusional
perhaps just one little bite
of Snicker’s midgie or almond Mars.
See what you’ve done, you’ve ruined my rhyme
messed with my rhythm, its beat, its time.

Well now, if you had to pick an alternative to chocolate, artichokes would do it for me...as long as I have the right dipping sauce!  LOL...this is very clever, very charming, and I'm grinning widely!

Chocolate artichokes...  I wonder how they would taste?
Probably somewhat better than chocolate ants, I imagine
but not as good as chocolate strawberries!

When I was a child, my parents always used to buy chocolate covered matzoh at Passover, but when I moved to Michigan I couldn't find them.  Finally, I mentioned them to the manager of the new supermarket which opened here a couple of years ago... and he actually found some for me...
so now I can have chocolate Passover

I loved your poem...

Witty! Whimsical! Yummy in the tummy!
Oh, no! I've got another chocolate attack coming on again and all I have is a chocolate-flavored protein power drink! Hopefully it will hold me over until I can taste the good stuff!--like Lady Godiva chocolates!

Gee, thanks, Barry! You've made my day. I think I'll go dig one out of the freezer before you gets your mitts on it.

thank you thank you thank you for writing this!!

i've gained god knows how many pounds because of:

first, buying my halloween candy too early,
secondly, being the one to hand it out, and
thirdly, extremely [eighty percent off] discounted halloween candy throughout the majority of november.

oh.  :: sigh ::

and christmas is just around the corner...

but i will resist temptation.  i will!!
