Lost in a dream. (Please don't wake!)

This started as an answering poem to one of the challenges (Must have 'I thought I could fly', and be about a sunrise), but it sort of took on a life of it's own and turned out completely different. *shrugs* I'm happy with the results, but I'd like feedback. Whad'ya'll think?

The War Of Night And Day

Morning stole Night
And hid it in Dawn
Dawn painted the sky
To welcome the Sun

The Sun rose grandly
A merry ol' queen
Her ladies-in-waiting
Gracious sunbeams

The sunbeams scattered
Danced across the land
"The queen has arrived!
Her Majesty grand!"

Trees and animals alike
Rose to greet the Sun
Who sat on her throne
On the horizon

Night watched from his jail
In Dawn's colourful hold
Guarded by Morning
So solemn and bold

But alas came rescue!
From Night's kingdom afar!
Parading in boldly
An army of stars!

The stars fought valently(SP?)
Against the Morning guards
And they chased back the Sunbeams
Into Her Majesty's arms

Proudly Night broke
From his jail that was Dawn
And rose to the sky
From where he had come

Twilight re-painted the sky
This time in Dusk's hues
And the stars raced about
Spreading the news

"The king is back!
The battle is won!
You can now safely rest
In the comfort of home!"

For as grand and gracious
As Her Majesty was
The world felt safer sleeping
With Night watching above

And so all retreated
To their versions of home
And drifted into sleep
Trusting and warm

Night guarded from the sky
Bidding all a good sleep
And the world fell silent
Save little stars' peeps

As for the Sun and her ladies
The fled right away
Only to return
The very next day

Thanks. ;D It's sort of half mystical, and half for fun. I wrote the first stanza a little while ago, when I was practicing a writing technique (taking abstract ideas and makign them concrete objects. ie: Morning stealing Night and hiding it in Dawn.), and the rest I scribbled down th'smornin'.

Do what you want and say what you feel. Those who matter won't mind and those who mind don't matter. (Forget who said that...must find their name.)

You continue to amaze me. I need to write more often, or you'll be writing circles around me pretty soon... if you aren't already... lol. Another wonderful poem. *hugs*

Thank you, sister dear. Naw, you're better than I. One day, though, I may just catch up! *wink*

Thank you both, it makes me feel good to hear others say they like my work. Suffering from low confidence as I am, it really does help!
