The Price
part one of a trilogy

Because you asked me to still smile for you
I will try to do what you wished me to
It doesn’t matter that my heart aches so
Just that you asked me not to let tears flow
Gently you said, ‘darling don’t cry for me
Try to live the rest of your life happily
Crying won’t make me alive once more
Set your soul free my love, to always soar

Because you asked me to not break apart
I will try to hold together my fragile heart
It will be hard but you asked only this
That I hold forever your loving kiss
You wrapped me in the warmth of you
Covered my soul with a love that was true
Sighing for you won’t bring you back to me
So I’ll hold tight this treasured memory

Because you asked me to walk in light
I will try not to give into the fear of night
It won’t be easy to walk on without you
To go who knows where the path leads too
But I’ll keep my face turned towards the sun
And I won’t feel guilty for having some fun
You asked me to do this one small thing
And for you I will try to laugh or sing

Only I will know what this promise will cost me
But you asked and I’ll pay the price willingly

Marsha

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

I hardly have words... this touched me so much. For as I was reading, I could imagine a young woman waving goodbye to her soldier or a spouse going into a room wearing smiles when the doctor has given no hope... or anyone cherishing what has been shared together enough to stand strong and face a future that may well be lacking their very everything... paying the price asked because love never stops giving.

This is magnificent!

There is always a price for love, it seems you pay it willingly. You know my heart is with you.

(sigh) Oh Marsha, this is so wonderfully wise, sweet friend, every love has a price that is priceless and its genuity all matters on how much one will mortgage it and hold as interest! (sigh) I send hugs out to both of you for the best, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Marsha, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Marsha,
It seems you have walked a painful path and with such dignity. This touches my heart in such a personal way. A keeper indeed.
