You know how they feel
so soft to the touch
like a hug at the end of the day
And if you are weary
of problems and such
they're a refuge where it all slips away...

Remembering back
to yesteryear's days
when my eyes took in color and light
The most peaceful time
I was tucked snug away
in a bed of clean sheets for the night...

As older I grew
with a home of my own
most housework I deemed as a waste
But I loved hanging sheets
in the breeze and the sun
knowing soon on my bed they'd be placed...

The point that I'm weaving
throughout this small verse
is simple but elsewise complete
If it seems like your day
gets increasingly worse
lose it all in between some clean sheets...

Pen how you truly feel...
it is a safety-valve for the soul!

In one of Douglas Adams books (It was either Dirk Gently's Hollistic Detective Agency or The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul) there's a god who takes form of an old man and lives in a retirement home. When the gods son asks why, he says "I get clean linen every day." And it is absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed your poem.

Hi Vicky and thank you!!!!  (You have my permission to take the day off, to relax and enjoy your clean sheets!!!!)

Hi RSWells...and yes, I do agree about the simple pleasures.  There are so very many things that we are allowed to experience, and just take for granted!! Thank you!!!!

Hi Faye...now that is my kind of god!!! One who enjoys the pleasure of a sweet smelling nest!!!!  Thank you, my friend, I enjoyed your reply!!

Hi there hubby!!!!!  You're right of course, but if anyone doesn't know what a duvet is, (I didn't until I moved to England), I'll explain it if you ask!!!  Thank you, Darling, for always being there for me!

There is no fregrance better than sheets hung to dry in the sun.  Makes me want to forgo my dryer for a clothesline like my moms.  Enjoyed your poem!

Hi there Martie!!!  Well, you could do it, as you are in the land of sunshine. I had to give up my English clothesline a couple of weeks ago, as my sheets just won't dry in this rain!!  Thank you so much, and glad that you enjoyed!!

Hi Sue!!  Well, a duvet is a great invention, kinda like blankets and sheets all in one!!  It's like a big huge pillow case (made of flannel or cotton in various prints) that covers your bed like a quilt. It has a quilted soft matt that fits inside it, and then the casing snaps shut. It is simply a removable padded blanket encased in a cloth bag.  With the fitted sheet on the mattress, you just pull the duvet up, and your bed is made!!! (Thanks for reading, too)

Hi Midnitesun!!  Oh yes, it is raining and cooling off here, but I don't mind! This is just like the Oregon coastal weather I grew up in, so it suits me fine.  Glad you liked this one, too!!

Hi Noah!!  Nightime is the best time for dreaming, my friend, and I wish you and Joanna only the very best!!

Hi sigheyes...and thank you for stopping in to view my ramblings!!!

Hello fellow Scorpio!!  If this conjured up some warm fuzzies for you, then I am happy!!
Thank you for such a nice reply!!

Hi Sunny. I have to agree, and add SOFT sheets to the mix.If they are soft and clean and sweet smelling, it makes a great refuge, especially when you are there alone. Cute verse, too
