The Meadow

I’ve walked this meadow many times
Its upward slope I daily climb
To savor every passing season
Thinking that it should be mine

If some day I were to be caught
By one who owns this lovely plot
And asked with curious eyes the reason
For my trek across his lot

I would describe the drifting snows
The way the windswept glimmer flows
And how the little imprintsfreeze
As shadowed paws in shimmering glows

I’d tell him of my autumn walk
Through colored leaves and broken stalk
How blue jays on his acres seize and
Soothe my soul with fluttering talk

The summer greens of wood and hill
The April filled with daffodil
How balmy air in springtime breezes
Beauty of the earth instill

If I were to explain to him
The power of the earth and wind
A treasure he has never siezed
He'd surely take a look within

I do not hesitate to trod
Another’s field in upward plod
I think that he would come to reason
That his land belongs to God

Beautiful, Elizabeth. What form is this? You've done a vivid job, very nice flavor, texture and joy to read. And the bottom line...for sure!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Liz

Your verse is always so pure of spirit, almost etherial, and so beautifully written.

This is beautiful, to say the least.
The bottom line does say ~it all~
about much more than this plot of land.

Very much enjoyed every line! (of every poem I've read of yours)

Thanking You for sharing your talent,

With Warm Regards,
Pat

Thank you.

God must be pleased that you have spoken with such eloquence and majesty of His seasonal gifts.
