Around the eaves and down the dell
The wind is whistling this foretell
September brings the wind so near
To whisper warnings in your ear

Across the pond the soft breeze blows
And ruffles all the water flows
October comes to raise the core
Of warnings that have gone before

Days of darkness hoar and frost
Raise the wind to count the cost
As howling now the wind grows fierce
To raise its warnings, all ears pierce

On the night the dead shall rise
Windy warnings fill the skies
As gusty breathing tells the tale
The spirits rise to weep and wail

The wind calls out those caught in fire
And gives the warning deep and dire
The dead shall dance on winds of fate
While comes the warning "It's too late"

The wind has risen round the eaves
Scattering hope along with leaves
Hear the rustling on the sill
Is it the wind or other ill?

Tapping, rapping on my pane
The wind is whispering doom again
This is the wind that comes for us
Dead spirits rise to join the chorus

Shrieks and moans will fill the air
The wind warns, and cries despair
I hide beneath my covers deep
On this one night I will not sleep

Lest the wind will take my faith
And carry me across the strath
Where I will find my soul in freeze
No more to feel the sunshine's ease

The wind howls loud and I resist
As morning comes it will desist
I gladly herald glimpse of dawning
The wind now drops its hint of warning

November brings a trace of snow
The wind had died its warnings go
I've survived another year
The wind in warning I'll not hear

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Oh Kethry ... I just loved this!  Excellent flow and cadence throughout ... and such wonderfully descriptive and shivery phrasing to cut through the mind to such vivid imagery. Just wonderful!

Best wishes,
/Kit

The dead shall dance on winds of fate

majnu,
thanks for the positive response, sometime my repetitions are boring but I'm glad you liked the whispered doom

Kit, if you enjoyed it I am blessed indeed. Thank you.

Marge,
if the lines speak to you it means the spirit is still moving on the winds. I am well but missing you desperately. BTW posting your present (small, insignificant but heartfelt) today.

OOOOHHHH  Kethry, this is so good...I'm shivering. I don't know if it's from the chill of the wind, or the chill of the spirits. It kind of made me think of Halloween. Do you all have Halloween in Australia? Thanks for sharing.

Love To All,
Ethel

(big hugggsssssss) Oh my gosh, this is so wonderfully haunted, sweet friend, I too know this feeling of warning and it used to depress me so very much but now I kind of just see it as a re-birth and rejuvenation to us all! (sigh) This is marvelous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kethry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

garysgirl,
thanks so much, I'd like to think you got the shivers because of the peom but it was more likely the weather.

Noah,
yes I used to worry about the warning, now I just listen and move on, thanks for responding *Heart Hugs*

nakdthoughts,
I thought it would be perfect weather wise for up north, but down south where I come from we are heading into summer, it's heard to pick the right feeling, I'm so glad you could relate to this one

Keth beloved heart I really love this, and you know as surely as eggs are eggs that I’d say that. Have you any real concept of how truly stunning your writing is? Probably not since although you are remarkable perceptive, you are incredibly blind about the quality of your writing. Its time you paid attention to what I have been saying since time immemorial that your writing is simply divine, read it, acknowledge it, and believe it. And no beloved heart it isn’t me being biased you are really incredibly good, trust me on this. (Yes, I’m well aware that every time I say trust me you immediately don’t) It wasn’t necessarily my fault we got lost, well not every single time it wasn’t, and it wasn’t me who changed the directions from left and right to head west or east was it?

You know I truly love this, you really are an amazing poet.

Missing you terribly, and do not tell me to aim better, because I’m aiming as well as I can with what is available.

Kethry - this is a wonderful write. I sit here feeling a chill of November winds yet to come. Chris

Keth, I've saved it already! Now, I'll write my reply!

I LOVE it! You wrote this so well--and I love the wind! If there's a wind storm, out of the house I go! I head for the lake and raise my arms up to the skies and get invigorated. I even make tapes of the sound of the wind by leaving the window open just a crack so that the sound is amplified.
--Gosh, Keth, I really do love this poem!!!!

Marsha,
why don't you ever get enthusiastic my work? Thanks love I can ditto all the other sentiments.

Nightshade,
I don't believe I've seen you around here before. Thanks for stopping by and responding to my work.

Earth Angel,
I have an affinity for the wind also, I love it when it whistles mournfully around the eaves and I am snug inside.  Thank you for your comments.

Sunshine,
well you know I simply have to give a different slant to halloween. Thanks for reading and responding.

Giminy Christmas! LOL I should have paid more attention to the title... for I was all prepared for a toast to fall and suddenly found my backbone doing a tapdance of shivers that had nothing whatsoever to do with the temperature! LOL This is absolutely fantastic, Kethry... and going into my library for many future shivers! *G*

Great cadence to this. It's allure would ordinarily be, given the calender, our "celebration" of Halloween, day of the dead, but your locale makes it difficult to disassociate it from the current pain "down under". Hope all is well and I did enjoy.
