Looking Up to Her Balcony

Phrases lean into my face
Like diamonds in a sparkling row
Too humble am I to embrace
So sumptuous the radiant glow

The drizzling words like honey’s pour
Aren’t meant for me to touch or taste
The best that I am hoping for
Is just the gift of eye’s embrace

The moon and star I cannot claim
She’s cupped them in her poet hand
Anointing a more worthy name
Than any yet bestowed by man

I must relinquish poetry’s pen
To one whose words I cannot touch
I only know my spirit mends
With verses that evoke so much

More radiant the skies become
More delicate a feathered leaf
The finely sifted words that come
Are powerful, yet sweetly sung

I cannot reach her moon of lime
Nor stand upon her balcony
I cannot reach this brilliant mind
Whose phrases stir the soul of me

So humbly her words unfurled
In sway of palm and red of eye
Her heart left footprints on the world
In phrases of a lullaby

In awe of your poem, Marti
You are the best
Elizabeth Santos

Yes, our Marti truly is gifted, and this is a wonderful tribute to her, Lady Santos.  I do so enjoy when one poet tips his/her quill to another...thank you!

Such a beautiful piece, in response to the visuals evoked from Martie's wonderfully descriptive poem Liz. You have captured, so perfectly, the sentiments I felt as well, upon reading her lovely words.

Been missing you, my sister-friend ... I hope all is well?

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Sunshine, I cannot write an adequate tribute to Marti, but this poem was how I felt after reading her poem this morning. I'm sure many feel the same way
Thanks you, Karelea for your kind words

Noah, Thank you for your response. I know that you admire Marti's work also. I don't know if she knows how how much respect she has drawn from so many.

Liz

Well now...if you didn't almost make me cry with this one.  I think if anyone were to write a poem about Martie it would have to be you!  She is incredible but you have put that into something tangible I can read again and again, well done and I tip my quill to you both.

Dear Kit, Your words warm my heart. I know that you would feel the same way I do about Marti's talent .I have not been around much on the forum due to many things that are going on. Some day I will be posting more often
. The poem I wrote for you in Cape Cod is among my favorites. It is a picture of exactly what I saw.
Miss you, dear.We will meet again
Hugs to my kid sister

Sharon, What a pleasant and heartfelt response to this poem. It's not easy to capture Marti in words. She's so different from anyone else in her style and it simply blows my mind.
How about joining me, dear, in a drink with a twist of lime! Over at St Peters Village!
I hope you will come back
Lots of hugs
Liz

Elizabeth, this is a wonderful tribute to your sweet friend, Marti. I think she's a wonderfully talented lady, too, as you are also. You said so well the way I feel about both of you when you wrote:
"To one whose words
I cannot touch
I only know my spirit mends
With verses that evode so much..."
Thanks to all of you sweet, talented, loving poets for sharing.
Love to All,
Ethel...garysgirl

You obviously know our dear Martie well, else you couldn't describe her so eloquently.   She's a gift in both words and friendship.  Thank you for this beautiful tribute, Liz.
