I had this romantic notion once
to be Hemingway
vodka in hand
ocean in view
writing through the demons

until, I remembered
the part of being alone
I’d never mastered

it’s lonely

if I have to wake up
Hemingway, tomorrow
could I please
still have the view?

I particularly enjoyed the last
Stanza...
as I read it through your eyes,
and need,
and then read it through
your thoughts...

Thank you, Duncan!

That's the closest I could find for an ocean for you...pretend it's the real thing okay?

Even if you did not wake up as Hemmingway on the morrow, you truly would have no need for a view of the ocean, because, Dear Duncan, you could surely write one into being!

Duncan

Any view is not the same, alone.  I like the way you write...simple-profound!

I'll share my ocean view with you sometime and even my boat.  Nicely penned!

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

well now, this is different for you... but no less for that. it still (of course) has the melancholy view that i always associate with, yet also stretches a bit outside yourself to encompass a layer of intentions. i have to admire that.

Yes,  melancholy...but very effectively
written....feels right for the words...

Nicely done..
