Once you were my bright shinning star,
you lit up the world for me.
No such thing as darkness invading,
Your illumination didn't allow it to be.

My inner soul was finally at peace,
I could laugh at hard times at my door.
I knew I could make it, no matter what.
I had a whole new world to explore.

I looked forward to times I would see you,
for a while I thought you felt the same way.
For some reason things started changing,
You seemed to have less to me to say.

My bright shining star was dimming.
I will never know the reason why.
I could only stand by just waiting and
Silently praying that it wouldn't die.

Each week, each month, it slowly faded.
I watched with a tear in my eye.
I had to accept, that soon it would be gone,
I couldn't stop it. I didn't want it to die.

Now I know the meaning of darkness,
And this void of emptiness I feel.
My star has diminished, the glow has winked out,
Now I wonder:
Were you ever real....?

If you can't make it so,
you need to let it go!

Aww I know just how you feel, for many stars faded out on me too! Don't worry, a brighter, ever-lasting star will come to you very soon!
