I meant to…

Winter mist cradles my soul-
Sun has long since begun to fade,
Memory’s I trust become my pain-
As I visit you here today…

“It’s been forever long-
since I’ve seen your face,
still daddy’s little girl-
no imperfection can erase”

I’ve been forced over the years-
To spread flowers upon your feet,
Sing you into a lullaby-
Steal a visit in rain and sleet…

I feel you only in pictures
I hug upon little girl fantasy
I refuse to see the awful truth
that you never had time for me…

I’ve memorized father’s perfection
though you forgot me as a child
Raised in love, by another man’s hands
Now minds eye seems so tired…

Forgive me for my hidden dreams-
when ability was your charm
To grant one small wish in father kiss
Cradling fragility within your arms…

“Been so long since I’ve been here,
I meant to visit before this year”

My knees are frozen from the wind
and I’ve relinquished my say,
~Rest in Peace sweet father~
the cemetery groundskeeper
wants to close the gates…

*It's been ten years...yet memory washes me thorough, with just one dream*

Open arms can be the most fragile in the world...

I feel your pain here Tanya. You've really said a lot in these lines. I felt like a bystander in the midst of a painful reunion.
Very sad, sweets. Big hugs 2 U!!!

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm

Tanya, every time I visit my own fathers grave, I feel much this way.........
every time.  Heartfelt hugs to you dear.

Enjoy life, this is NOT a dress rehearsal.

Oh tanny,
Making me cry agian. I know how bad this fact hurt the both of us. And you know how often that feeling creeps up on me too. Sometimes when we least expect it. I just think about our own children and hope they never have to feel this, even though I fear it everyday. I love you tanny.
-I miss you!!!-

Oh sweetie, this touches me.I lost my Dad almost 2 years ago. He was never there for me, yet I mourn him.
I guess dreams never die.
