I can’t believe you’re leaving…
But I guess I should have known…
That people such as you and I-
Are doomed to run alone.

We’re frightened of proximity…
Emotions bring on fear-
And if we love, it’s from afar…
We dare not draw too near.

We dream of precious moments-
Spent in each other’s arms.
You tell me how you love me,
As I describe your charms…

And I suppose we’re lovers…
In a tragic distant way…
But sadly we can’t show it…
Now you have to go away.

I’ll love you, as I’m driving-
And every single night…
I’ll think about you, darling-
I will long to hold you tight.

No matter where you travel-
I know that you shall find…
That I will be there with you,
And always on your mind.

This is lovely, simply lovely. It makes me sad and fills me with a desire to hear it sung.

I do believe this could be set
to music...and it would do well...
