This is the best and most interesting thread! All Pips poets should have this as a reading assignment. Come to think of it, maybe all Psychology 101  students should study it as well.

Hi There !

Now I’m checking in from Vancouver,
To show you that I did maneuver.
See, I even caught my plane on time.
but on board my head began to rhyme.

The “da duming” wouldn’t stop at all,
I found myself beginning to scrawl.
I scrawled this note to say to you all;
it was sure fun, I had a real ball.

My room mate is gone…that is a fact,
our lifelong friendship now intact.
Each friend gave a gift of special love,
reciting poetry that they wrote of.

It was an honor to share this time,
with the wizards of Passions rhyme.
Nothing on earth will ever replace,
the fact that I have now seen your face.

The tender smiles…the twinkling eyes,
no longer is your Passion’s disguise.
I’m with Kit; I’ll pinch once, then twice,
For never have I met people so nice.

~* Nan *~
Thank you for opening your heart and home to us.  I hope we didn’t tire you out too much for going back to work today?

~* Liz *~
I can’t tell you how special my time was with you, and I will treasure our time “cuddled up like two giddy school girls watching a favorite movie” always.  Love to you and your wonderful, dear family.

~* To the rest of you scoundrels *~
I love you guys’ big time and don’t you ever forget it!  Kit, give me a break - it is 1:20 in the morning here, that is 4:20 in the morning over there, and so it doesn’t have 9 beats to the “da dum” I dare you to come on a plane and get me...

How's this for a greeting when I got home, all I could hear at the top of the escalator was this screaming child yelling, "Grammmmmmmmmmaaaaa", then I saw her running with balloons for me!

To quote Dorothy, "There's no place like home!"

Are we now all home safe, accounted for?
Has everyone now reached their own front door?

Does Mysteria have da-dum down right?
or is she ready for another flight?

Will Passions ever be the same again?
or do I hear plans coming on the wind?

Wow, what a great time you've all had. And what precious memories you keep of your time together. This is a great thread. I hate to see your visit end, since I've had so much fun following your escapades in rhyme.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

My Martha's Vineyard Dream

Fairytale houses of rainbow delight
Painted in sugar plum purple and white
Candy cane trellis with rambling vine
Fruit colored porches of lemon and lime

Little doll houses lined up in a row
Built by a toymaker centuries ago
Still stand on a hilltop along narrow streets
Windows of crystal-like rock candy sweets

Barbie Doll pink next to Cabbage Patch tan
Polka dot railings in Raggedy Ann
Brown chocolate sycamore, peppermint leaves
Marshmallow fluff hangs from corners and eaves

Gingerbread cottages, fairyland dream
A Fairy book vision is what I have seen
A Ferry boat ride to a fairy surprise
A page from a fairy tale fills up my eyes

A gingerbread village is what I recall
perhaps it was only a dream after all

Pinch me, Kit

At the risk of letting y'all in on the deeply held secret that I'm a sentimental ole biddy...

This thread is one I'll always treasure... for the fun, for the laughter... but most of all, for the respect and admiration that simply pours off the pages.

I'm glad everyone's home safely... thank you all for sharing and including us across the miles.

I started this on the plane yesterday ....

~*~

Too Many Tears for Kit ...

You poet people made me cry,
Oh yes you did, and you know why;
You're ALL so sweet and ALL so kind …
You stole my heart and blessed my mind.

When Liz and Ruth left yesterday,
They made me cry …. not fair, no way!
Then we left Nancy's home this morn,
A third time now, my heart was torn.

A triple whammy fare-thee-well,
Came from 'Deer, Sy, and Isabel …
But one good-bye was not enough,
They had to make it REALLY tough!

They dropped us off and said good-bye,
And off we went - was time to fly,
But we connected once more then …
Surprise! I got to cry again!

So off we flew, got re-composed,
Myself and Sharon talked and dozed,
We landed in our native land …
And dear, sweet Sharon had a plan.

Our bags were heavy, Sharon frowned,
And so she flagged a porter down,
She offered him a good sized tip,
If he would help us on our trip.

The next we knew, we raced about,
Until I thought I might black-out!
He took us shortcuts everywhere,
Then said to Sharon … you go there!

I went to follow, but he said,
No, No … you follow "me" instead …
I looked at Sharon, hugged her tight,
Then off we ran … one left … one right!

I finally made it to my gate,
Then sat with tears for my last mate …
I'd said good-bye to seven now …
And there I sat with sulking brow.

They called me quickly to depart,
I'd checked my bags … but left my heart.
So somewhere Nan, it's roaming there …
In Cape Cod dreams, and salty air.

If you should find it, hold on tight ...
Until we once again, unite.

*~*

Besides my heart Nan ... what else is missing, lol - I'm sure there's lots!

I'm glad to hear everyone made it home safe and sound. What a wonderful reunion you had Sharon. Tori will be a happy little girl now that she's got her Gramma home! Liz, I'll keep pinching, don't you worry, and Michael ... thank you for all the smiles.  Sy? I still can't believe that tank of gas didn't have to be re-filled, lol. And Ruth ... I bet you had a wonderful greeting when you got home!

When I touched into London, I didn't see my husband, so I called his cell phone, only to find out he was there inside the airport, we just hadn't connected yet. I took three steps away from the phone booth, and there he was, lol!  I was greet by a very happy puppy when I got in the door … she even slept around my head on my pillow all night like a fur cap, and kept nudging me all night long (I think she was pinching "me" to see if I was real, lol).

Big hugs to everyone, and thank you all for enjoying this thread right along with us. Your comments have been heartwarming ... as if you were all there right along with us.

And Michael ... thank you for collaborating with me on the Widow's Walk. I wanted to place the link here, so that it remains a part of this thread always. Thank you again ...

OK, off to create some kind of "pinching smilie" if I can ...

Love and hugs to all,
/Kit

Ah Kit I couldn't believe it when he rushed me off like that, and you followed him so fast.  I don't know about you but I boarded the plane crying and I am sure they thought I was   I am so glad you got your fur cap last night, and I got my feather bed, I'm afraid a "pinching smilie" just is not going to cut it though Kit, I want the real thing - I miss you all already   My parcels arrived from Elizabeth and I sat on the floor crying when I opened them as I remembered her and I up in her attic just talking about "stuff" and both of us in her bed one night watching a movie, eating chocolates and giggling like two sisters before we had to split for the night and sleep. So many fond memories do not a "pinching smilie" make. I want the real thing again, how about you?  I am keeping those two little pieces of paper you hand-wrote with my da dum lessons so close to my heart, any closer you'd be inside where you already reside for they seem to make me hear that contageous laughter of yours and see that glorious smile.  Oh Lord, I'm rambling on but how can this really be the end?

A New Beginning

By a bay of quiet waters
With my thooughts, the only sound
Solitude, a new companion
Mist, the walls of my surround

In a harbor of contentment
As the fog rolled out to sea
All the deepness of resentment
Left my heart and set me free

Launched into the moving lather
Lifted with the rising mist
All the darkness that had gathered
In my mind did not resist

Floating into cloudy billows
Drifting further from the pier
On a soft and misty pillow
Sailing seaward was my fear

Further from the well of memory
Close to tomorrow’s dream
Morning cleared the mind of every
Phantom lurking in the steam

By a bay of quiet waters
With myself, the only friend
I have seen a new beginning
I have seen a quiet end

Sometimes being around the warmth and love of friends, rather than make you forget your worries , it somehow makes you confront them. This was a quiet moment alone on Nan's deck looking out over the bay.

Liz ... that was beautiful, and also ... so very true ...

~*~

She Writes (for Liz)

I watched you from a distance,
Many times you did not know …
I gazed in wonder as I watched
Your pen move to and fro.

Your elegance seemed amplified
As I'd watch you compose …
You radiate a glow through life
That sweetly overflows.

A look of quiet contemplation
Graced you as you penned …
Your thoughts awhirl, and flowing down
Until each story's end.

I felt a warmth of admiration,
More than I can say …
Each time I saw your hand reach out
To write throughout the day.

How wonderful it was for me,
To listen as you read,
The thoughts you captured lovingly,
That flowed like silken thread.

/Kit

*~*

Sharon ... I felt the same way, we got ripped apart so fast! We must have looked like we'd lost our best friends boarding those planes, but I think thankfully instead ... what we've really done, is found them.

This is not the end.
It is not even the beginning of the end.
But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

What a wonderful keepsake thread!
What a blessing you all are!
What a wonderful world.....

Ah Nancy...I knew you would come up with something to console my empty soul today, and that is it - today is just the end of a perfect beginning. Here's to the perfect beginning to come.  Next time, I want WAY more people there and we are thinking of making it sort of in the center of the US of A, like Vegas?  Nan and Kit will keep you posted.

Liz - read your email please (sorry about using this thread for a means of communication folks - it will wear off honest.

Okay everyone...you have me in tears here in Pa reading all these poems and post. What a wonderful time I had and what an amazing group of people. No matter how many get togethers we have in the future, this one will remain top in my heart forever.
Nan....you're a wonderful hostess and a beautiful person both inside and out. I feel we're kindred souls
Liz...what can I say, just watching you write is a gift I thought I'd never receive. I'll always cherish those memories and let's do get together sooon!
Kit...you are as beautiful in person as you are in your words. The Widow's Walk turned out wonderfully!
Balladeer...smiling, you are as much of an entertainer in person as you are on the blue pages...how anyone can recite as many poems as you off by heart amazes me, truly it does
Sy...a gentle man and a sweetheart you certainly are and it was truly my pleasure to meet your aquantance.
Isabelle...I loved the way you mothered the entire group and looked after each one of us. You make me smile and it was a joy to meet you
And last....but certainly not least, Sharon...wow, what can I say! You have lived a full life and I so enjoyed your presence and energy. You're a lovely person and I'm glad we got to meet
Hugs and love to the whole bunch...I miss you all already for you certainly all left footprints in this heart

The Poetry Readings

The house adorned with candle light, aand faces all alit
And all were waiting silently for Balladeer and Kit
To tell about the love they wrote in fine poetic verse
And now we’de get to see them in the flesh as they rehearse

The Balladeer began to read words printed in his mind
Then Kit read her part lovingly and followed right behind
Bacall and Bogie couldn’t match this great poetic pair
And Rhett and Scarlet’s grand adieu, could never quite compare

And then came Nan, a poetess with phrase of wonderment
Her Serendipity is something that we’ll not forget
Just to hear her voice recite the lines she had concieved
Made much more sense than Oprah does with Martha at her sleeve

And then came lovely Hoot Owl, whose voice, I’d never heard
She pulls your heartstrings with the thoughts behind each lovely word
She’s Elizabeth Browning with a flair to calm a troubled man
Who was much dismayed to see her undies hanging there at Nan’s

And then there’s Sy, what can we say, his poems we can’t consume
Imagination, wit a charm, and darkest phantoms loom
Each verse exquisitly produced, and this I surely know
He puts to shame sweet Vincent reading Edgar Allen Poe

And then came Liz with squeeky voice, who cannot read her pen
Who mumbled through some verses, thankful to be there with friends
Trying to decifer what was scratched upon the page
Glad to be in Nani’s Nook and not upon a stage

All performed their poetry, Mysteria bowed out
Next time she’ll be reciting from her published book, no doubt
But it was thrilling listening as each one read their part
So much more beautiful the words when speaking from the heart

It's no wonder that the rest of this site seems to be disappearing!
Is this a new site in the making?
Perhaps it's a black hole of PIP stars, pulling everything else in with them, no escaping it . . .

I did too recite a poem and a long one too about my Grandparents.  If I remember correctly that is precisely the time Kit took me by the hand and said, "okay let's do the da dum dance!"  LOL, bet you remember it now Liz?  For those of you wondering apparently I can't rhyme worth a darn and so Kit showed me the soft and hard beats as we banged a foot on the floor and by golly it works too. I missed the second night of poetry readings as I was sicker than a dog but I am sure Balladeer had them all in stitches as the laughter was shaking the bedroom walls.

Hoot - You and Nan are indeed kindred spirits and now every time I see your picture all I can see is you racing up those stairs to that treasure chest and by golly you darn near beat that scoundrel Balladeer too.

Will this thread ever end?  I miss you guys so much it is ridiculous.
