Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-03-31 06:51 AM

The Key

In trust I was given a key,
My love said “Please, keep this for me,
For it fits only my heart,
It gives us a start,”
On a chain lies the golden key.

On a chain lies the golden key,
I wear it next near my heart,
Though we may be apart
A touch of key thrills me
As it feels the beat of my heart.

For this key was given in trust,
By a love that is good and just,
He loves only me
It’s carved in the key,
Though alone my feet step through the dust.

A promise was made from his eyes
A future we’ll realize,
If I held to his key
For his heart is in me
We’ll someday have reason for sighs.

He went off to do as he would
For honor is true, and is good,
A chain holds his key
His promise, you see…
For in trust was I given his key.

I like.

...*reads your critique message* Aw man. You've gotta make this complicated. Let's see...

Tell me what it made you feel
It reminds me of someone.

think, ponder
Maybe there are people you can trust.

and what you may be taking away
I'm resisting the urge to make a smart-assed comment about pick-pocketing the key. heh.

Karilea, you write like an angel with the hope and promise of better things to come. I just loved this and the way it was written.

Congratulations on hitting 34,000!! Gosh, you look so young in your picture, but all those posts, honey, you must have been here forever and a day!!!

Hugs and luvs, Marti
