Poem – Requiem For The Real World

Such thoughts I have of you
Are the warping of reality.
To be inspired so is
To wrap oneself in dreams,
And delight in their warmth.
Sometimes, in your finest moments,
Life becomes Art;
Your face adorning galleries I wander
Lost in rapture and awe.
If that were all it would be enough,
But so much more fills my every day.
The thought of a life without you
Painting visions of Heaven’s end
In my panic-stricken mind is
Replaced in the merest moment
By images of a sweet morning dew
Soaking through my very fibre
And promising a perpetual Eden.
The clandestine wishes mutually sent and
Hurtling, furious in intensity
Stop briefly only as they cross
To make their moment together
A perchance of completion.
Words that write themselves, or perhaps
Written by you,
That fleet-footed grace the
Paper before me and succour me with a smile.
All this in a day that wanes slow and eases me to rest yet,
This encasement of dreams, it is
My subterfuge,
Never to be shared or understood
By a now unfamiliar reality
Outside my window.

The shut-in's muse. The fortress of flesh we can always hide in. It is a frightening world and your anti-rage would be the less harmful refuge. Here's hoping that a soulmate materializes and that hope waxes. Enjoyed the thought provoking write and would like to welcome you at this time.

thank you all for your kind words...
And as for a soul mate materialising.. well, we all draw on something right?
