Sweet Tanqerines

As I rubbed her hand, Meme
told me of her rough life.
Even as a young girl she lived
a life of trouble and strife.
As she rubbed my hand I told her
I had lived a rough life as well.
And as we talked and shared stories
I realized that she had an interesting
story she wanted to tell.
She shared a bag of sweet tangerines with me.
The kind that are fabuously sweet and melt
inside your mouth deliciously.
I told her that her legs were beautiful
and her words didn't skip a beat.
Each time I complimented her appearance
she would just look at me kind of sweet.
Every now and then she would stop everything
and just look me in the eyes.
And then we would continue to
eat sweet tanquerines, dried squid,
and talk stories of relationships and
love that had passed us by.
It was getting late so I told
her that it was time for me to go.
She said wait I have some delicious
vegetables...they're good for you, you know.
She brought me a bag of farm grown cucumbers
and before I drove off into the night
this lovely woman that I enjoyed talking to
gave me a sweet kiss goodnight.

Beautiful, James. You appreciated her gifts, even if they were probably different from those you expected in a first moment. And the common cucumbers became quite special!
