The Holy Qur’an, “The Cave” "18.30": Surely (as for) those who believe and do good, We do not waste the reward of him who does a good work.

She fell down,
Wallowing in self-pity,
A moaning,
Pain groaning,
T’was garbage of the city,
He found her
In gutter
Beaten and bruised by life,
To let stand,
Helping hand
Was greeted with a dull knife,
He fell down,
Robbed and away she’d scurry.

Broken down,
Motor dead on the roadside,
Man of care
Stopping there
Offering to give a ride,
With shotgun
Quickly done,
The Samaritan was dead,
Stolen car
Driven far,
Tire tracks through pool of red,
Help had found
Ill reward in a hurry.

Gloom
Both these stanzas are based on actual events,
some might want to call them antidotal,
others might see them as reason to not aid the down trodden,
and others might see this as a corruption of Verse.
Most won’t even see it or understand.

You've certainly captured the plight of the downtrodden in today's world.. and it's true.. sadly... So often we just don't stop to help another in need - just to ensure our own safety.. How sad it is...

Thank you, Nan,
Then people wonder why we are becoming a colder society,
There are still a few warm hearts out doing good deeds.
Attrition makes it fewer each year.

and you quote the Q'ran too...mmmm.mmmm. You may not believe this, but just yesterday I was wondering why no one ever quoted from spiritual sources other than The Bible. Where is the Q'ran? Where is the Bhagavad Gita? and as to the content here, I do understand, and there's lots of horror stories to be told regarding the dangers of playing good samaritan.I think the worst horror story would be that if we did not have ANY good samaritans anymore. Sorry for the speech, professor, but you got me excited with this one!

Thank you, Serenity,
There are many sources of human knowledge,
It would be a shame to be limited to a single one.
And there are still many good helping people out there
why just the other day I saw one on the side of the road…

Gloom, thank you again for your continuing inspiration. I agree with serenity's words. And you may remember that I, too on occassion quote from the Holy Qur'an. I often refer to the translated works of Abdullah Yusufali, at:

serenity, there are many sources of Bhagavad Gîtâ, the Indian Holy poem. You might look at:

As far as the story of the Good Samaritan, as told by Christ, if we study the times back then, it may have been even more dangerous in those times to help strangers, than today. Although it is true that we have now more powerful ways of killing people, today. But in the time of Christ many a quick sharp dagger was then used to remove a trusting soul of his purse.

Isn't the lesson the same. Love is the only way to light the darkness. And I strongly believe that like Newton's Laws, Love and pain will always be brought into a unity in God's final Creation.

I will continue to stop and help. As the only thing I fear is the death of my soul.
