Cities of Gold, Silver, and Ivory

Here I am floating
Endlessly surfing the mystical skies
Worriless and lonesome
Empty yet content
Intoxicated with hope
Soaring…downward
With a simple thought
Embracing the clouds of unconsciousness
Inhaling the purple and black haze of fantasy
Enabling me to continue my journey to nowhere
Open skies, at last!
My world, my time

I soar across lands of great majestic beauty
Luscious greenery and colorful gardens
Smells of that perfect season
Waters of the deepest blue
Cities made of gold
Some made of silver
A few made of ivory
All inviting my body and mind
To forever reside within their walls

But my search for sobriety continues
From the realms of dreams
And somewhere in between
To the crossing streams of consciousness
Where the lands become dark and solemn
A colorless world, without sight and sound
Sadness overwhelms me
My body and mind are now sober
These visions are familiar
A past life now remembered
An old world I must return

My tears are non-stop
Drenching my floating soul
Flooding the realms of my mind
With passing visions of what could have been.
Cities made of gold
Some made of silver
A few made of ivory
Sounds of joy within the walls
A dreamers whisper, invisible to reality

And as I drown in myself
Sinking weightlessly and quietly
My eyes are wide open
My mind now at peace
For what I have been allowed to see
A knowing smile across a somber face
As I hit the bottom of my reality
A soul now at rest

A soul now at rest

Is there a more peaceful feeling than this? Especially after the experience of highs and lows. Magnificent write.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
