Balladeer and LongJohn.. and that crazy Larry C.
Got shipwrecked on an island in the middle of the sea.
The isle was full of locals..not really hostile.. but in need.
time to build new canoes with human skins.. they all agreed.

‘Deer and John and Larry stood trembling with fear,
each praying for escape as the locals all drew near.
The King, he was a fair guy and decided it was right
each man deserved a equal turn escaping from this fright.

He explained to them that he’d allow each one request.
To ask for just one item that would aid escape the best.
He walked to ‘Deer..and said  “you must escape or you must stay”
‘Deer said.. “scissors”.. then he cut the rope.. and ran away.

John swallowed when the king approached he knew what he would do
He whispered “knife” cut the ropes and quickly ran off too.
The locals were not happy for they needed at least one
looked at Larry swearing that they wouldn’t let him run.

But just like ‘Deer and John.. the King had promised each one thing
And swore that above all else he was a fair and even King.
Larry thought a moment then he yelled “I want a fork!”
the locals laughed.. you can’t cut with that.. you must be a dork.

But they handed him his one request and watched as suddenly
Larry started poking himself with the fork quite violently.
The locals watched in amazement.. He is crazy was their vow..
Larry just smiled and yelled to them...

“How you like your canoe now?”

Remember me with a smile on your face, or please don't remember me at all.

Lucie,
I like what you've done with this there was a time the it would have been a Toe canoe.
But the terrible trio are no more.
I feel sorry for Larry it really pricked my conscience to hear he took the wrong fork.

Lucie,
This was hilarious. Balladeer should be ashamed of himself for running with scissors.
Great poem.

Leave it to 'Deer to expect island savages to have a pair of scissors!  I'm surprised he didn't ask for an electric carving knife!  lol

Great story, Lucie.  Way to go Larry!
