Listening to every heart

0 posted 2002-01-13 09:06 PM

Haloing

I need to see you
In the sun

When the halo frames
Your face, where
Blue eyes in sky greet
Warm of emerald stones,

Your hands clasping,
Cleaving my heart in hold,
Long legs
Romping you home in run

Let me clasp your hands
In swing
And wing you off your
Limbs

Climb me as a tree
Once more, before
Self-possessing behind
My skirt

Amuse my nose with
Dandys and magnificent
My smile, for
You were my glee

Bent to growing far too
Soon, I sit and knead
My recollections
To let them rise awhile

For we were never short
On yeast, and I blew
Warm on you in whisper
Of encouragement

Life bakes one
Dry soon enough, I would
Not allow you to leave me
Through tears

I’ve carried you like
Music in my pocket ~
You still tickle me
In whistle

Holding your childhood
Like a grass harmonica
Up to the breeze for its
Push to hear the song

You ripple my spine
Powdering me fresh again
Mirroring wrinkles
Into fresh born creases

Even in the silence
Of life’s setting sun

~*~

This one takes me through bright summer days
when the sun's rays dazzle and as kids we would frolic among trophies of wildflowers and raspberry bushes. No wonder you call yourself sunshine!

Oh, Karilea, My children grew up too fast and this incredibly exquisite poem brought back delicious memories!  Hugs, Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.
