From the Soddy Journal, late 1869

The simple line of
Me unfolded before you,
Like a letter hoped
For from the East,
A promise of return, you having
Worked too hard, forgetting
Now and then, what it
Was that brought us here, and then

The simple line of
Me unfolded before you,
The pledge, returned, beneath the sod,
A buried vow spread out to receive
The seed of life

God only knows where
Earthquakes are born, but here
In the soddy, we know,
For the quivering, quaking, once begun,
Will soon bear fruit,
As earth’s loins are mine,
Then you, the propagator, come
Reaper,

Will be here to shield and
Shelter the fruit of the womb,
For that night as I,
A simple line of me,
Unfolded before you, a warranty,

Which will reap as well as the
Land you have worked, the oath of our eyes,
This guarantee of our gaze,
A declaration of our
Delight in the sunsets to
Come…

A promise of all time

Karilea, you write in a way that carries the reader off to another time and place.  These so much remind me of, I believe anyway, "Sarah, Plain and Tall",  the Hallmark series of three movies made for television which I love to this day.  Incredible writing and imagery here....more please?

SEA, as long as there is a Kansas breeze, there will be more stories, I promise...

Dusty, thank you for reading.  I'm doing my best to make some past reality come alive again...let me know if you ever think I'm off base...I do incorporate some research now and then, and then my heart takes over...

Startime, I am grateful that you are enjoying these journeys as much as I am...thank you for reading!...

Nancy...indeed, I have enjoyed the vignettes of the Sarah, Plain and Tall stories...and yes, not only that one, but another movie of a general nature has done much to inspire me...so I hope no one thinks I am copy-catting anything, but just "adding more" for those who see that period of time as both hard, and soft, for in all ways, life had to survive, and some were not so fortunate to be able to do it with an understanding soul mate...some were merely together for convenience...

but some of us had to have the genetic disposition of some very, very good people before us...thank you for reading!

Well I am going to throw in the Canadian version of what these are to me - as I have watched every episode a zillion times - "Anne of Avonlea", or "Anne of Green Gables", which is set in Newfoundland in Canada and now we have the Soddy Series, and these of course are visual episodes I never wish to miss either!  Thank you for the enjoyment you share.

Thank you, Dave...

Mysteria, you are so right, another film favorite...ah, so good to see other "romantics of then" out there...

(smiles) Oh my gosh, I agree with Nancy so much, this is just like a beautiful Hallmark movie production; you tell such beautiful stories that make us feel right at home, witnessing the birth of loves promises and sweet memories in the sun! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, I love this series of yours! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I sit in wonder as you bring the past so vividly before us.  You are such a natural poet in this realm. So beleivable. So there.
I have always loved history.  I have always loved the time around The Civil War.  Thank You.  Roger
