Abandon

There is a line,
though not in sand. Scripture tells us
who alone has the authority
to record, or not, our sin
in that, loose medium.
It seems to be, instead, a kind
of tincture that encircles wounds,
as when a mother applies to the hand or arm
of a child, iodine. Warned
not to scratch, I dare not think that word called
"itch".
But what of sleep?
Must I then keep fast near my bed
the complete works, in Latin,
of St. Augustine, including his "Confessions"?
Will that between these lines erase
my dream that in our oneness felt
this first, sweet breath
of abandon?

Bob--You sometimes seem to write with two pens...each opposing the other in direction, the end leading each to thoughtfulness.

I do like the way you write!
