We all talk about God.
They all talk about Allah.
We all hope for Peace.
We all think we know what it is
and how to get some of it for ourselves.
Did you know that Alfred Nobel,
the one who funded the Nobel Peace Prize,
made his fortune by inventing
and then producing dynamite?
Have we really learned anything?
Does "Peace" come from a missile or
the barrel of a gun?
Forgive me my naivete,
but for me,
it can only come when the guns are all melted down
and the people of earth hold only
love in their hands and hearts.

Thank you, Mark and Doreen. And perhaps the "operative" name should be changed to GodAllah...and maybe he will be pissed off enough at all(ah) of us to have a temper tantrum to match that of Godzilla.

Oh I so agree. And this is such a bad portent, I think, of the future.
I wish I could pray more, but glad you all are doing it so well.

catalinamoon, you are so right about this being a bad omen...why do we humans think we can slap one another around with one hand and reach out to 'GodAllah' in supplication with the other hand????
It's a mystery to me. Sorry, but it's time to go outside now and feed the stray cat that moved into my barn for protection on the night of Sept 11, to have a safe place to birth her two kittens.

This would be a great concept if the rest of the world would agree, but sadly I doubt they ever will.  I am against war, but as long as there is evil in the world it will be our reality.  Great write here.

Thank you for reading and caring, Lone Wolf. I'm afraid you are right, the people of this world aren't really listening to all the messages of Peace and Love that have been handed down through the ages by many, many different Messengers. I believe the message is always the same.
Whenever I got into trouble, my mom used to say "If I told you once, I told you a thousand times....."

A very powerful write. I would love to believe that we could all just love one another peacefully. Maybe one day, but not in this world.

wonderfully done my friend. . . indeed for there to be world peace, there must first be peace within our hearts. . . it can happen. . . as long as we believe. . .

well done. . .

sunshinemist, I would love to live to see the day when the world would finally 'Give Peace a Chance'. And though I'm afraid your response is closer to the truth, I will continue blindly on my pathway to peace, and even where it is cluttered with lies, I will step around these lies and follow what I believe to be the only road to peace. Thanks for stepping along that same path.

Wise, wise words Midnightsun. You speak so well here with such a wise message. Why do people fight over religion? Don't they know that NO God condones that.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Tracey, I'll never understand it either. But unfortunately there's a whole lot more to this picture than religious differences. Look for the roots of the problem. They go very, very deep.
Thanks for reading, and keep working for a peaceful solution.

Thanks for reading, Balladeer. As usual, you find a way to lighten it up a bit...not an easy thing to do. Hugs.
