She sat up straight in her high chair
and flashed that saucy little smile,
and with spaghetti noodles
dangling from her toes and
garlic bread butter stuck on her nose,
she laughed at the 6 o'clock news,
and the questions adults asked about the world.
For her, the answer was already there
in the spilled building blocks
on the livingroom floor.
The building blocks that spelled out
the pre-schoolers golden rule,
LOVE and KINDNESS = PEACE and HAPPINESS
for all who play together.
And I smile at the building blocks,
and pray that I will see more of them
scattered 'round the world.

SEA: Aha, you have a gourmet eater at home. I can't let my teenager see this...it was a memory of her during the Gulf war that inspired this, 'though the words came to me only tonite. Thanks for reading.

Marge: Thanks, and I giggle when I think back on my sweet Sara's spaghetti episodes, and her matter-of-fact attitude about life, which hasn't changed. At age thirteen, she seems wiser to me than many three times her age.

Ahhh, you made me remember spaghetti dinners with my son, who is now a Father himself, and it made me smile, so thank you for this one, it was delightful.

HeHe. Thanks, Titia. Funny memories are worth more gold than the IRS has ever seen.
Ah, spaghetti. I've seen it on the walls and the ceiling, but mostly in the hair. Glad you've "been there...done that" it's proof of our 'universal' experiences.

Thanks for reading about my spaghetti toes (and head) and the spilled blocks.

Larry C: LOL. I remember the cereal bowl. It was oatmeal. And to think I used to buy oatmeal soap, when all that time it was in the cupboard, just waiting for those little hands. And I'm afraid that innocents are harder to find these days.

Midnite--you have brought back many precious memories for quite a few people, including me. The innocence of a spaghetti world and the peace and love blocks. You are right, we could all learn from our children. Thank you for this!!
