Between a laugh and a tear...

Liberty's Tears

Clouded in the eerie dusk
Liberty stands, draped in dust
Gaze cast down on horrific scene
As cries of rage break terror's scream
Savage blows to mankind's heart
Fear and terror they do impart
Now through the veil of liberty's tears
In silence we stand and shed our tears
And as the candles glow we seek our peace
While mankind mourns, and seeks release
Thoughts turn to hope, of distant visions unclear
And a time to live, never again to be cast in fear

"Let me pierce the realm of glamour
So I know just what I am." ~ Van Morrison

EagleOne~
Hello, luv~
This is a tenderly penned piece of your heart~

Today there were so many lovely tributes and fund-raisers on the television ... each story brought it's own tender tears of remembrance~

With all the lives lost, if we began to tell their stories tomorrow, with just one each day ... it would take 18 years to sing their songs~
That's pretty darned sad, huh ?

*Big hugs* to you, sweet poet of remember~
Thank you~
Love ya'
~*Marge*~

Well tomorrow holds only mystery
And who's to say what might be
But in you I found a love so strong
The sun and the moon looked on in jealousy

A lovely tribute....I can see her now, tears streaming down her face. We discussed at work what would have happened if they had crashed into the statue of liberty....it doesn't bear thinking of...

a wonderful message, that is well stated, though the last two lines could be tightened to retain the rhythm you started with...I only say this because you indicate you encourage constructive critique and this is too great a piece not to fine tune

don't ask me exactly how to do it, though, as I have the same trouble, often

I must add, the title is 'superb'...that's what drew me in immediately!
