I sit alone at water’s edge
Ducks surround the dock’s ledge
They quack and play on it’s wooden sheet
None of them seem to miss a beat
They hungrily drink of the river’s blood
Without fear of famine or flood

A little brown duck swims up to me
Just to get a closer see
Curiously watching as I write
His little heart knows no fright
On he swims with the current
I was only a momentary deterrent

Children laugh and talk on the trail
As they are shrouded by nature’s veil
No harm shall come their way
Here on this peaceful glorious day
They all still have some time
In which to reach their intended prime

The sun softly mirror’s the sky
Reflecting in the river’s eye
I sit here silently and smile
Knowing this river goes on for miles
It brings peace to all who see
The beauty spread here before me

All writing comes
by the grace of God.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Every season
it is grand...
as the tides
withdraw the sand..
docile, then in summer's sun
shimmering
of things undone...

and in the fall
we've yet beget
it's seasoning
of life's regret...
and now a winter's icycle...
memories of sweet trickle.

Love to "J" haven't forgotten you!
and? ty for the inspiration!

This is serenely beautiful....I love to be near the water. (I can't see the graphic, it showed up as an X on my computer. What was it?) Anyway, well done Lone Wolf.

Floating ducks, playing children, poets writing amidst it all.  Much has changed... much hasn't.  Enjoyed this deeply.
