Friends--I have been looking for words to write and have not found them, so forgive this repost that I found looking under the word "peace", which is what I pray for.  Hugs and love to you all!!

       Just a Traveler

When was it I crossed the river
and found that the other side
had all those slippery cliffs
just like the one I came from?
It was full of obstructions,
thorny terrain
that made the climbing treacherous,
and I couldn’t go back
(didn’t want to really)
for this journey I found
was prickly
no matter which direction you took
and the sky turned from darkest night,
star studded at times
or filled with a perfectly ripe moon,
yes, and if you touched it just right
it brought depth and shadow to the road.

I wanted to find the perfect place
to build a me in
and I thought a meadow with ocean view
would be my completion.
To step out onto a balcony
and be hit by the spray of ocean’s curl
and to sleep to the sound,
the heart beat of the earth.

But I found that peace is transitory,
it gifts you in splashes
and passion crashes to your shore
only when you pull strength
from all those thorny voyages that cried
or that danced around you in beguile
showing you the dance is solitaire, really
just the slippery floor and you
in old and weighted boots trying to capture
some sort of bliss.

So forgive me if I touch you
with my jaded tongue and my need to fill up,
torch the condo and the file cabinet full,
full of all that ache from something
that I can’t even name,
forgive me if I throw words around
and melt when you say my name,
for I am still just a traveler
trying to find a home
yet, knowing that I carry it around,
and sometimes
it is just too damn heavy!

Oh, sweet sister~

Martie, thank you for finding one...and Marge picked the same one I liked the best...But I found that peace is transitory,
it gifts you in splashes...now, how true is that?  Thank you.

never apologize for a repost me dear...
not when they are this awesome(and they all are)...
we learn from every vision you share.
and this one ... is a very cool poem.
I guess our muses took off for the beach again? one last hurrah of summer?
*sigh*...whats a girl to do but love her moody muse   ...
and then work its butt off when it come back
hugs Martie-girl

Well tomorrow holds only mystery
And who's to say what might be
But in you I found a love so strong
The sun and the moon looked on in jealousy

Finding appropriate words to express after this week's tragedy is equally difficult for me, Martie - Your 'peaceful' repost is wonderful... Thank you..

This is so wonderfully expressed ... always such beautiful phrasing and images from you Martie. Much to ponder here in this lovely peace, much enjoyed.

Best wishes,

You've  put into words for me some of the feelings Ive been having.  I loved the first stanza, too, because both banks of my shore are treacherous right now.  I'll be reading this one again.
Thanks

Sweet Flower Girl - even as we stand in the garden of your delight, we know that a little anger must be released...let up to the heavens, swallowed, and then, then we can go on....
