If We Had Loved

If we had chosen then to love this way
To lace our nights with fringe of velvet bliss
Allowing deep desires to live instead
Of folding up the night with just a kiss

If stars had mystified the inner eye
And raptured all my senses as they do
Perhaps I wouldn’t  have notions to deny
The sentiments of love I felt for you

I would haved slowly opened up the gate
Into the magic garden of delight
Our love has bloomed, and it is not too late
To walk into the garden of delight

An open petaled silken bloom, in truth
Is much more splendid than the buds of youth

Very nice - I absolutely LOVE your final couplet.. Budding youth has much in store for them, for sure.  Full bloom is certainly far desireable.  I'm smiling..
