Under the stars upon the wind

The dice have been cast
and I have lost..
What the cost I do not know.
It is not of the friendship
that now has begun to sway,
or just the fact that I am
having a bad day.
I have left my poker face
on for to long.
The reality of the hand
I can't recall.
I have turned the roulette
tables
and here's the results
I didn't lose money,
but sadly myself.
I pulled the lever of my
soul, the only credit
are my tears that have yet
to flow.
B1 and B3 a voice does call,
Why i can't I be me I scream
as the lonely tears begin to fall.
The lights whirl around me as
I exit the door.
The only thing spent my emotions
the only game played was against
myself, now tell me what for?

No one knows why we oftentimes play against ourselves.  Seems to be no need for it really, yet we continue on.  Sometimes I think, we let the game control us and that is when we need to step back to find our berings.  Addiction is more powerful than we think and can sneak up on you when you least expect it.  The trick is to be aware and keep it in check.  Great pondering, Voiceless.

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Great analogy...it really demonstrates the difficulty of battling with yourself.
Great poem!
