medusa

I loved you, thing of stone.
It was you who gave me sight to see
what none before would show.
It was you who filled my longest nights
and chased the day away,
knowing I could not bear the light.

What is it you would say,
if you could speak?
That look on your face
is but a moment’s passing,
though made of stone and everlasting.
Your hands could move,
your mouth could speak,
your heart, now cold, could beat with me.
And you could touch me then, and say
that I was your beauty of the night unseen.

What is it you would know,
that you must trick me so,
luring me to this garden path,
making love and making me forget.
I see your face glowing yet
as the sun rose, and you looking west
to see what day would show.  And I see me
crying out, to see you turn to stone.
What secret was it you hoped to see?

You may pride yourself now,
if stone can feel.
You may boast how you saw all of me,
the real me, and not just what I would show,
if stone can see.

You may recall to all
how I loved you, all the while beguiled
and whispering love in your ear,
if stone can hear.
You may gloat, swell, and strut all day
to all the other cold, dead stones,
if that is what stone wants.

I will never say but that I loved you.
And this: that once,
not stone, but you, loved me.

The music fits this piece wonderfully...deep and haunting and quite mysterious....

well done Sir!

Thank you all very much.  I really am surprised anyone saw this.  Things get lost  very quickly here.

Sunshine -- yes, I thought the music fit too.  Trying to fit music and words is actually very difficult, as I am discovering.

Thank you again.
