To run from time
Is to

Stay still
With the reward
Of

Nothing

For life
Changes
Our

Desires

this is good   life does tend to change our desires, or the level of intensity we desire them at

Nicely done and said Mark...

Time stilled to naught
lifes pleasures can oft get caught
inside static cling

Oh my, this is a good one for me today, considering I had some reminders of a past I need to let go of. Thanks for this, Mark. Inspirational at the right moment in time.

It sure does, SEA...  perhaps it's a simple word called "maturity"...?  (I prefer to call it "Wisdom";  some refer to it as "experience"...).  Whichever the case, as long as we learn and progress towards the positive, life indeed is good.

Ron:  "it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that cling"...  Nice and stream-lined response!

Sandra, I'm glad that this little poem could shine a little in your life today.  I hope all resolved well for you.

This one (I suppose a moment of blindness on my part) didn't make sense to me the first five or so times I read it *L*  But finally an intelligible interpretation surfaced for me.  It tells me of a person who gets himself caught up in doing some one thing, and continues to do it ad infinitum, defying the fact that times are changing, that HE is changing, and in the final analysis, he lessens himself because of it.

I enjoyed this greatly!  Thanks for making me think

Excelent thought provoking poetry you have been writing Mark.

Ted, thanks for taking the time to think -- it shares its weight of importance with feeling.  What do you mean, though, "he lessens himself because of it"?

Thanks, Dan...  That is a high compliment, indeed.  Glad you're enjoying.

I meant, more specifically, that he misses out on a great deal of enrichment and adventure, of life, that he would otherwise have enjoyed.  In that sense, he is lessened.

Life also has a way of making you accept where you have come along the way. Desire can change into something different...like
pure contentment. We fear, we run...I'm okay as long as I can still burn the house down in my 60's (from desire) of course. LOL>. Love this lots!
Sincerely,
Rwood

Rwood, you have a point.  May the desire to which you refer never change!

BRILLIANT!!!!!!Oh yes, indeed, it does. What we wanted when we were young is not what we want as we get older. More important things take a leading edge in our lives. Okay.....this is one that could have me going on and on....wonderful. I LOVE IT!!!

Love I leave with you my friend whether it be in your life or of yet the essense of your dreams.

Startime, thank you for the enthusisasm!  I actually would love to hear more -- for me, half the fun of poetry is the philosophy and expression it inspires from its readers.  Part of a poem is the art, but a huge part is expression and communication with others as well as, perhaps, inspiration from and to others...  This (poetry, this forum, our participation) is, afterall, a human experience in the making, no?

Thanks, Sunshine.  Question:  CAN one run stagnant, by the inherent definition of the word?  And if one can, I guess it would be in a circle, no?
