I can't sleep tonight
Too much has all gone wrong and it needs to be set right
So while you're dreaming, I'll just stay awake and figure out
How I can erase all pain and doubt
And while I'm at it, I could tackle world hunger and hate
And they'll be nothing more than just a memory of yesterday
God knows I'm not sleeping anyway
But it's a little too late
for you, you're tired and there's so much going on inside your head
You just rest there in your bed
and I'll take care of everything,
I'll do my best to fix it all and bring
peace to the whole world, no matter what it may take
Maybe I'm the one who's dreaming, or maybe I'm just the only one awake
Maybe it's too much to ask, too good to be true
but you know I'd do it if I could
I'll do everything for you
So you sleep well and dream tonight
Everything's all right, and I will
see you in the morning-
I'll just see you when you wake up.

LOL @ your critique message...you go Kristan!..judging by this poem, i dont think you'll ever get a request to never write another poem hun!..this is really good..lol..reminds me of my own nocturnal habits...

I couldn't say that. Quite the opposite actually. I hope to see more of your poems in the future. This is exactly the way my sleeping habits seem to be. It's like while the rest of the world lies in slumbers bed. I sit with thoughts running through my head. This poem is wonderful. Thanks for sharing

If we're told we're bad, that's the only idea we'll ever have. Maybe if we are surrounded by beauty someday we will become what we see.
