I held you in my arms
for one moment in time.
I counted every toe
and pressed your lips to mine.

You were a gift from God
that I shall not forget.
Though the pain inside me grows,
I have not one regret.

For one second I swear
I saw you smile at me.
But the dreams I had for you
just were not meant to be.

I held you to my breast
long after you were gone.
And to this day I know
I held an angel in my arms.

Some do not understand
this blessing like I do.
Far worse would it have been
had I never got to hold you.

The Lord keeps you now,
Though you're still a child of mine
and one day Mommy will hold you again...
...Sweet Caroline.

such heart wrenching words from a time of such sorrow  but like you said those few moments in your arms that bitter sweet joy will carry you till you meet again

Hey, TA...this is heartbreaking, but a beautiful write about your appreciation for such a gift...wonderful work...

I hopelessly, helplessly, wonder why
Everything gotta change around me
I’d tell it to your face,
But you lost your face along the way...

OH My, how very very sad. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I just couldn't imagine! You wrote about it so well.

You are very lucky to have had the chance to hold her TA, many never get that opportunity.  This was so tender.
