They Fell Before The Fall

They knew warm moments in their hearts just as the season was
For summer blessed the air they had breathed
The breeze it sang a lullaby across those evening skies
As nature slowly painted nighttime's scenes...

The summer was just the beginning of a whole new world
Lines of loneliness seemed to erase from their face
For two souls who felt so new to the golden light upon them
Finally walked a mile at a runners pace...

It all happened as the moon became the source of inner peace
For beneath it they found a greater way in life
But, in their hearts were the silhouettes of the loved ones left behind
Still they just weren't sorry they shared the night...

Oh, it was kind and so loving to both their touch
For the most of that season and through each rising sun
But, before long the winds would become colder again
And, the warm summer nights would soon be gone...

So, the cooler winds began sending words they didn't mean
Who thought the chill would ever effect their hearts
They built their dreams in each other and shared the warmth
But, the cold bitter rain just pushed them apart...

The fall was just a beginning to a whole new world
Lines of loneliness seemed to appear on their face
For two souls who couldn't stand the darkness upon them
Barely made it a mile at a runner's pace...

Just a destination to love with autumn in sight
They never held one another again at all
Though they loved and will love until death takes their hands
Like drifting leaves they fell before the fall...

Have you ever known the color grey when the nighttime finds you weak
I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

Oh,SweetSaunni~
You write the 'sad' so beautifully.

'Though they loved and will love until death takes their hands
Like drifting leaves they fell before the fall...'

Such tender thoughts cascade across my heart with these lines.
Thank you !

Thank you Marge and Janet for responding. I do write of sad things and situations alot and I guess that is because there are so many sad situations in my life...but if it weren't for writing I don't know what I'd do.

It will take more than a season to seperate a love such as this...time and weather changing will wait for you both.  There will always be another summer!

Not to bump you, but I forgot to say, did you see the post Sven wrote about you in his gallery?  If not, may want to search back a few days.

I really like the title and the way you worked it into your poem.

JLR, Confetti, thank you both also for responding. I enjoy this site so much. No, JLR, I didn't know of Sven's writing, but I found it! Thank you.
