She sat there,
No rings on her hands bone thin,
Dirty hair,
A blank stare,
A shell devoid emotion,
Lacking voice,
Makes no choice,
No sign of encouragement,
Emptiness
In distress,
No plea for help ever sent,
She sat there,
Tattered cloth, battered skin.

Eventually that's what happens. You can batter a body for only so long, then the mind just shuts down. Such a shame what people do to each other.

and today I received a prayer request from a teen for her friend whose boyfriend is abusing her...the teen says she "can't knock any sense into her"

strange choice of words, considering the request

perhaps too many think that's the only method some people understand

Thank you, inot2B,
Yes the mind is capable of blotting out
A world of things when pushed.
Torment to pain, the realm of the sane
All eclipsed by the shattered mind.

Thank you, Interloper
For taking the time to read and respond.

Thank you, VAS,
Physical abuse has become too commonplace,
Manipulators too bold.
Glad you responded.

Very sad. Excellent expression of utter despair.

A great job of speaking on a subject too often swept under the carpet, I really liked this one.  By the way, your site is awesome, and will be going back as you have really done a fantastic job!  Thanks.
