I met Superman one day and asked him for a favour,
He said he was busy and if I could meet him later,
I said 'sure', for that was going to be my favour call
And we fixed a meeting next day at the library hall.

But tomorrow never came, Death met Superman that night,
They say he fought with all his heart, a fight that shook his might,
I'm truly sorry about the way his health was troubled
And with the loss of my favour, the tragedy had doubled.

One more hero had come and gone and we all stayed to sing
Like selfish favour-mongering scorpions, waiting to sting,
After all, heroes become famous since we make them so
Else they would fade like pictures forgotten long time ago.

Yet we never ever ask why we need them to be them
And why can't they be like us, like leaves clinging to a stem?
Why can't they be like us, like creepers sticking to a wall?
Maybe because we need them to be our stems and our walls.

Some amongst us want to be the stars, to be just like them
And boast a deep desire to be sung of like an anthem,
While those who have the will, have success come their very way
And the rest become great fans who worship their hearts away.

After all, each one of us has a passion and a dream.
With this thought, I sit to enjoy warm chocolate with cream!

...It's been a while between 3000 and 4000, and in a sense, the time in between has been historic, in my book of memories...

...Thanks to each one of you, wonderful friends  and remarkable writers...we are all super heroes here...and we will be us...

really don't know how to respond to this one, it raises questions in my mind that I want to seek answers for, but I also think about what one may have in store for placing his/her faith in a superMAN

it was an interesting read, though, Sudhir and congrats on the numbers

reminds me of that scene in "one flew over the cuckoo's nest" where Jack Nicholson goes "I tried, didn't I." And that is all we can do, is to try. Superheroes are ordinary people they just reach out to more people and are acknowledged for it. If we all helped on our own level then the owrld would be a better place. Congrads on the milestone.

Sudhir, my man, you pack a lot of meaning in these words. Yes, we need superheroes..we all need people to look up to...people to admire and strive to be like...people who set standards and let us know, by their existance, that those standards are attainable. I like this poem very much, sir...

I like this very much, Sudhir... It's a thought-provoking beauty. *S* I think most of my heroes are "ordinary" men (or women *S*) meeting life's obstacles with extraordinary fortitude, determination, imagination, and strength of character.
