Don't rebuild the dreams he made us,
Now they hold a broken heart.

Don't kiss me the way he kissed me,
The taste was sour over time,
He loved her lips, her smile, her touch,
So much more than he loved mine,

Don't touch me the way he touched me,
The lies bled into my skin,
And everytime he held me,
I wished you'de loved me then.

Don't try to fill the empty space,
That he chose to leave behind,
Just hold me like I'm beautiful,
And assure me I'll be fine.

Don't ask me to forget him,
He lives within my soul,
And deep inside his eyes,
Is all the pain you'll never know.

Don't leave me like he left me,
Just stay with me tonight,
Kiss me now, so soft and sweet,
And make this love alright.

Well written,
Oft times similarities
shadow the new and build on fears.
It's the fear of repeated sorrow.
There are times we must put aside the past
to enjoy the possiblities of the future.
