Mona Lisa Eyes

Da Vinci's femme fatale
mysterious dark beauty, immortalized,
stare of innocent seduction
she holds the secrets of womanhood in her eyes,
skin, soft and elegant, silk-spun as creme brulee,
come hither smile stirs beat of souls a-flutter
entrancing, romancing admirers, eve through day,
in curious surrender, she poses for a lover,
a masterpiece unrivaled
exquisite goddess captured forever
with brushstrokes of cunning stride,
yet, time weathers the colours
the paint reveals the pain behind the depth of eyes,
the grace of her face begins to age,
solemn worn cracks of misery
sink deeper into this cage of shallow sage,
mute torment, soliloquy of lonely
~
Only a few know
in her heart, shackles and wildflowers grow,
framed in glass to cry,
Mona Lisa eyes, have I

I love it !
Shades of Ethel Barrymore drama ... she was tops !
Wonderful !

quote:
When life knocks you to your knees, and it will, why, get up! If it knocks you to your knees again, as it will, well, isn't that the best position from which to pray?

This is lovely and poetic.  Even Goddesses crack and age.  How sad.  Joyce
