Always, A Girl

struggled
mightily
to free myself
of bonds that be
of shy
young girl,
young woman too,
to be a woman
through
and
through

a second decade
came
and went
and life was
laughingly,
lovingly
spent

a third decade
and then
a
fourth

and suddenly
life headed
north

~*~

and now,
now I am
wrapped in
fine,
fine feelings
of twine,
entwined,
a spirit young,
meant to be
free,
held in one
less-than-young
body

and in
relate
I shall not
hesitate
to tell you
now, just
this once
that I embody
Anne,
Anne of
Green Gables,
vigorous
and sprite,
and in the
writings
of her write,
I would implore
for you to see
the young
that I would
now be,
in mind
and spirit
and in
circumstance,
I would ask
you,
give me chance

chance to be
in body, old,
a force within,
a force
of gold

a girl of
light
with wrinkles,
yes…
but a woman
young
with each
caress

I have heard
that men,
thus, as well,
fall under
this mysterious
spell,
of seeing
younger
in the mirror
when as we
should
see much more
clear

but

if you will
allow me
my girlish
fling,

then,

then I could
give you….

everything.

This is so well done, Lady! I personally can't understand why my father keeps staring back at me every time I look in the mirror! I feel sure you have nothing to worry about...we're not old...we're seasoned

So lovely and why is it that our bodies go before our lively spirit.  I swear I am not any older than my granddaughters.  Joyce

And sometimes tells me a force to be reckoned with...sexy is as sexy does!  That is a  little something my Grandmother taught me!  From one who has reached 1/2 a century let me assure you, I still love me!   Smile...frowns cause wrinkles - lol - Great insight and a wondeful poem, just loved it!
