How deep she dives
I do not know for certain
Only know that she
Must surface
From time
To time
And breathe

Her size and power
Could rule the oceans
If she desired
Yet, her gentle spirit
Does not allow it
It is foreign to her
As the harpoon

Hunted by cunning, willpower
Handmade tools, and
Seal skin canoes
She is my mother
Worthy of respect
More than my own
Her meat and bones
Become a part of me
And I
A part of her

Know then
What you covet
Whether black gold
Whales, timber or coal
Become a part of you
And your destinies and souls
Merge forever
At the fork
In the road

Ahh, my favorite subject and a painting of the Queen of the sea done by the master himself; well done - beautiful!

Poem reminds me of the saying " A Task doing is worth doing right"    Let the play become you, your words had a solid sense of mingling.  Enjoyed reading.
