On this day to God above
Of whom we know and cherish
We send our thoughts of hope and love
In faith we shall not perish

If we live a life so long
And do not waste one minute
Lift our hearts in word and song
And accept our Savior in it

If our lives should be cut short
If that is what our God hath willed
Let it be upon report
Our lives were Jesus filled

This day we supped upon our meal
Drug from shield and iron plate
To those in need we ask You heal
For Your compass we know is great

You keep us close and when we fall
Your eye upon the staggered sheep
The Lamb who died for one and all
Has cause to watch and weep

We love you God, Your mercy awed
We cannot fathom Your design
This Your image although we're flawed
Through each flicker the Light will shine

In Jesus Christ the Lord, He lives!
When exulting, we can say then
Oh, praise the mighty Lord forgives
In Jesus Christ name, Amen.

I will admit a time or two I've read your poems and didn't know what to say. (I wasn't sure what it was all about)
This time I have no trouble for your poem is filled with love for the ONE above.
Walt this humbles me. Thank you for sharing it.

Sorry for the late reply, my friend, but I'm so glad I found it. Nicely said, dear Walt.

I'm so glad I came across this...fine work and words that lend healing to a troubled heart, promise peace when none can be found.  I thank you.

This is very well written.  'Flows quite nicely.  I like all of the "ifs" 'cause we can be taken away from this earth so fast.  I also like the line about God's Compass being great...awesome thought.  Just a small reminder...tell Him thank you for the awesome talent he has given you Walt.  You've truly got it and have been blessed!
