Read Wuthering Heights, or you'll have no clue why I wrote this. Also, because it's the most amazingly beautifully tragically amazingly (etc. ) dark romance to have ever existed. This poem is Heathcliff pleading with the dead Katherine.

DARKLING ASKING

Everything inside this
empty heart spilled out
to chase after you.

I can't die,
please come to me.
I can't let go,
please come to me.

Haunt me!
Damn you!

In the kirkyard,
I heard you calling
and I dared to venture.

Haunt me!
Damn you!

Your face won't leave.
I cannot live
without my love and soul.

I can't die,
please come to me.
I can't let go,
please come to me.

Across the moors,
I've heard you crying.
Forgive me, love,
for pushing you away.

Haunt me!
Damn you!

There is no reprieve
in the flat pleasure
of vengeance.

You must hear me calling.
Why won't you return?

I can't die,
please come to me.
I can't let go,
please come to me.

Haunt me!

Please.

"I'd rather be anything but ordinary, please." -Avril Lavigne

If there is any line better than "There is no reprieve in the flat pleasure of vengeance," I don't want to know about it!

Well, if I hadn't captured Wuthering Heights well, no one would have ever read it. You're just not allowed to show off a desecration of your favorite novel, somehow. (And I, being the evil little corruptor that I am, got Mike hooked on Wuthering Heights too!)

Well, why not? It's impassioned, haunting writing. Not to mention all the little notes and pictures Lori tucked away in th' book to fall onto my chest at certain passages ....

God I love her.

Wuthering Heights is in my heart as well; every line I know by heart. You have captured this love very well Anvrill! ~Rayne
