I am writing this for a friend, whose wife was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. I pray that he will have the strength and courage to get through this.

----------------------------------------------------

A distant hope,
A silent prayer,
A forlorn dream,
'Tis faith a shattered will must bear.

Dirge in a merry song must,
Yet, let not tragedy fulfil its task.
Take now the love you keep,
And embrace Life's greatest gifts.

Hey hey ...

This had had a strange impact on me recently. I began to view life in a rather different perspective ... suddenly realising there are just so many things and people we take for granted. I now feel as if I haven't been doing enough for my loved ones ... and I seem to have forgotten when was the last time I actually told them I love them ...

Sudhir ... Thank you for replying to my posting. I only hope the sentiments were expressed well enough.

Severn ... I guess this is the best way I know how to offer them words of comfort and strength. And I am really glad that you thought well of this piece.

EagleOne ... Thanx for dropping a reply ... Your words are truly heartening.

this is really touching in light of your introduction.  I hope everything turns out for the best.  Your poem is truly beautiful and i hope you show it to your friend.  Keep looking at life in a different light
