A W a l k
Virginia Salter

I feel like taking a walk
not the kind that the doc says,
no, more leisurely
with someone special on my hand
whose elbows gently rub mine
whose ears hear my inner thoughts
someone who rejoices with me in my dreams
whose eyes
twinkle now and then
when we catch the other grabbing a look
almost on the sly
someone whose footsteps keep rhythm
with my heart
and mine with his
as we stroll
allowing the dust
from our strides to mingle
and the air to carry
aromas of flora to surround
and place their scents
into our lives
giving perfume to sweeten our memories
the kind of walk
that heals inner struggles
deep crevices of pain
one in which the goal of the steps
can be found anywhere along the way
and the remainder of the journey
is dressing, topping, whipped cream and chopped nuts
that adorn and make more savory
even the wondrous beauty
of the adventure itself
and you know,
I’d like that walk for you, too,

Well now.....cowboy is really enjoying his stroll through the blue pages this morning and this beautiful piece sure helped in that. It is a good thing I don't have to worry about extra calories and such or I would have gained 20 lbs in the sweetness of this one. Beautiful write and the flow was both soothing and uplifting at the same time.

Wonderful poem Virginia! I loved the walk it panted in my thoughts. Wonderful imagery and oh so sweet!
