Seductions Whispers As soft as a whisper carried on a breeze Your words enchant souls with alarming ease Encased in a gown of wonder disguised as lace Those lies and deception from your pen race Words that sparkle like gems bait your trap Which in its own time shuts with a snap Your masterly artistry that murmurs entice Into souls’ sanctuary your weapons slice Souls writhe in anguish calling for release Begging for the torture to pause then cease Held enslaved in despair they beg as they plea While your silken words draw out the mystery The warnings ignored now laugh in delight For they work with you in stealing hearts light Increasing the agony as you play your game Those souls held enthralled will go insane A ribbon of enchantment turns into chain Desperate souls now dance to misery’s refrain Hearts that had flown high in swirling desire Now shiver in ice unable to reach towards fire Reveal your true self before those souls cry out Exposing their pain in anger, justice they shout Release your captives and let them go free If I cut their chains you’ll battle with me! My words don’t entertain lies they will shine Truth has its own power and its shield is mine And hearts that cry sobbing for beauty’s shame My soul hears their pain screaming your name Feel now the laser of truth freeing those hearts Gathering them together to let the healing start I’ll deflect your words and execute your lies And truthful beauty will live while despite dies Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |
