"Tears For The Dead"

Like the briar that tears at the angel's wings
Like a nightingale's forgotten song,
Like the pale flesh that encased my soul
I decay from loneliness, sorrow is my own.

Like a tear on porcelain memory
Like a kiss on lips that are devoid of life,
Like a lover's caress in a tortured dream
I awaken dead, crying a silent scream.

Like a lonely rose, a forlorn tribute
Like the faded beauty in your dying eyes,
Like the solitude felt by my murdered hope
I feel despair - the chill of a winter storm.

Like love lying raped in a twilight grave
Like a weeping heart, melancholy's slave,
Like the place in my soul where no light will shed
I will leave you my crimson tears for the dead.
