Canvas Bag Carryon or just Baggage?

the weight of the strap wears into
my shoulder's skin
pinkening
and marks my shoulder
so,
and I adjust,
adjust

how did this baggage
get so heavy and
when did
the canvas
become so taut…
was it just through time
or because of time of what
was mine
or what wasn't mine

or is the baggage just
carrion
and shouldn't it be
discarded
if it is?

I get confused between the
carry on
and carrion in life
sometimes

but to turn in my ticket
to get this luggage that I've
lugged so long
makes me question
its worth
and my worth

he says I'm worthy
and that I measure up
and I sure hope I do because
I'm not taking my baggage
with me when I go…

not if I want a clean start
with a clean heart

he imparts to me
the question's answer
of "come as you are"
and in that moment
my star rises
and shines

so I decide
that the carrion is to be left
to be picked clean by
someone else
who cares not for me
but just for what I brought
no matter what lessons
were taught

so I shall carry on
with the knowledge that
the carryon luggage
and the carrion memories

can be left behind.

What a wonderful poem... and how I'd love to leave my baggage behind and carry on. *S* Well done!

Kari love, I love this, put your bag down dear heart, now walk away, don't turn back, just walk away from it. Truly wonderful love it really it is. After all love, all you will ever need is held within your heart where the magic memories live. And this is the symble for us all, besides dear heart, it's so difficult to get lift in your tail with something weighing you down.
A keeper most definitely
Take care love

Perhaps when the carrion is cleaned up, there'll be a clearer sight of the real carryon... the stuff that's been kept around for so long - and no doubt for good reason...

Nicely done, my friend...

Kari, this analogy is just amazing, how do you always do it?
